City of Medford is seeking an Economic Development Staff Planner to partner with the Director of Economic Development on city initiatives supporting local small businesses in Medford. You will help create programs, market the city, and implement strategies to attract and recruit businesses.

The role emphasizes collaboration with city departments, handling planning-related analysis, and supporting community resiliency through targeted programming and grants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Planning, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field with a minimum of 2 years of planning-related experience.
• Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field is preferred.
• Experience with workforce development, redevelopment, downtown initiatives, and small business support programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a principal point of contact for small businesses needing assistance with city processes, programs, or regulations.
• Manages communications promoting resources to support business, such as guides, financial programs, and technical support.
• Develops and maintains small business programming to support resiliency, such as a retail incubator and outdoor dining.
• Evaluates economic, statistical, and demographic data to analyze how to attract, retain, or expand businesses.
• Coordinates activities and/or resolutions of problems/complaints with federal, state, or local agencies.
• Supports grant programs through processing risk assessments, monitoring recipients, and reporting impact.
