Job summary

City of Northport is seeking a dynamic Economic Development & Main Street Director to guide the city’s growth, tourism, and branding initiatives. You will collaborate with local businesses, developers, and regional partners to attract investment and support downtown revitalization.

Lead the Experience Northport program, coordinate events, and supervise staff to ensure alignment with city goals and community priorities, including the Main Street Alabama program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government or economic development.
• Experience in tourism, business development, marketing, Main Street, or related community initiatives is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to supervise staff, manage multiple programs, and coordinate with public and private partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for Northport's economic development, tourism, and Main Street Alabama programs.
• Promote Northport as a destination for business, events, and investment in coordination with city policies.
• Oversee branding and marketing efforts for Experience Northport and related initiatives.
• Develop partnerships with businesses, chambers, and regional partners to expand impact.
• Supervise the Main Street Alabama Coordinator and manage annual goals, budgets, and performance.
