Job Description

The Economic Development Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, delivery, and reporting of continuing education and customized workforce training programs across all Wiregrass Georgia Technical College campuses and service areas. This position also assists with registration and reporting in Destiny One and Modern Campus and coordinates logistics for the College’s mobile training labs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing continuing education classes across all campuses, including driver’s education and other open-enrollment programs. Coordinate instructors, facilities, equipment, supplies, participant communications, registrations, and class records. Assist with customized contract training for businesses, industries, governmental agencies, and community partners. Coordinate training dates, locations, rosters, instructor needs, materials, and employer communications. Enter and maintain accurate course, participant, instructor, and company information in Destiny One, Modern Campus, and related systems. Prepare reports on enrollment, contact hours, completions, revenue, company participation, and training activity. Assist with scheduling and logistics for mobile training labs, including locations, travel, instructors, equipment, supplies, setup requirements, and deployment calendars. Support proposals, instructor agreements, purchasing, invoicing, evaluations, certificates, and program documentation. Respond to inquiries from participants, instructors, employers, and campus personnel. Assist with marketing, special events, camps, workforce initiatives, and other Economic Development projects. Travel to campuses, employer locations, and training sites as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills. Ability to manage multiple programs, locations, schedules, and deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn registration and reporting systems. Ability to work effectively with instructors, students, employers, and College personnel. Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel throughout the service area.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Category III - No foreseen exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Probability of working beyond the normal shift, but not frequently. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and satellite sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in business, education, workforce development, communications, public administration, or a related field *and* two (2) years of experience in program coordination, training administration, continuing education, customer service, event planning, or a related area. Experience using databases, registration systems, or data-management platforms. Valid driver’s license. **Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to meeting all other minimum qualifications, the highly desired candidate will possess one or more of the following: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience in higher education, continuing education, workforce development, or economic development. Experience coordinating customized business and industry training. Experience with Destiny One, Modern Campus, Banner, or similar systems. Experience coordinating mobile training programs or multi-location activities.

SALARY/BENEFITS

Salary is $45,500/yr. This position is full‑time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options for health & other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This position is funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS

Pursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and employment history reference checks will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as Motor Vehicle Records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to being promoted or transferred into a position with the college.

Other Required Tests: Satisfactory Credit Check results are REQUIRED as part of the mandatory background check process.
