Job summary

The City of La Crosse is seeking an Economic Development Coordinator to support long- and short-range economic development and redevelopment efforts. You will manage business attraction, retention and expansion, workforce development, and talent strategies. The role involves ordinance work, planning initiatives, and coordination with multiple departments.

Starting salary ranges from $83,616 to $95,784. A Master’s degree and five years of related experience are required, along with strong MS

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Administration, Economic Geography, or related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning or economic development; equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing work plans and directs the work of the City's Planning and Economic Development programs.
• Develops and implements downtown master plans, neighborhood plans, and TIF project plans.
• Directs and promotes the City's ongoing economic development strategy.
• Administers consultant contracts to support economic development programs.
• Researches and analyzes market trends to guide planning and development decisions.
• Develops and maintains a commercial/industrial land/building inventory and coordinates development proposals.
