Job summary

City of Scranton seeks an Economic & Community Development Coordinator to support Executive Director and Deputy Director, oversee HUD/state/local programs, and collaborate with City Administration, Council, and partners to advance development initiatives.

Responsibilities include HUD reports, program compliance, OpenGov updates, public meetings, and coordination with Shade Tree Commission and DPW on blight and redevelopment projects. A relevant degree and policy coursework are preferred.

Qualifications

• Coursework in public policy, planning, economics, or a related field.
• College degree preferred.
• Familiarity with federal and state economic development, housing, redevelopment, and community development programs.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, submission, and monitoring of HUD reports, Annual Action Plans, Committee Work, and other required federal and state reports.
• Provide guidance and technical support to special projects.
• Ensure Program compliance.
• Perform data entry, tracking, and other required platforms.
• Coordinate with Shade Tree Commission to identify issues with trees, and work with DPW and Tree Service Vendor for emergency city-owned trees; assist residents meeting income thresholds for low-income tree removal.
• Schedule HAB meetings, prepare Housing Appeals Board packets, reserve rooms, and advertise meetings in partnership with the law department assistant.
