The City of Reading seeks a seasoned Community Development Director to lead the Department's six divisions, including Planning & Zoning and Housing & Blight Remediation, and to advance the Administration’s vision for revitalization. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Political Science, or related field.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in essential responsibilities and duties of this position.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiation of complex transactions with ability to close large deals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages personnel within the Community Development Department, including hiring, training, work supervision, and problem solving.
  • Leads coordination among CD Divisions, other City agencies, and city partners to improve services.
  • Develops goals, policies, procedures, and long-range plans for the Divisions.
  • Monitors programs to ensure they meet community needs and mandates.
  • Oversees HUD-related funding, grants applications, reporting, and implementation.
  • Identifies and pursues local, state, and federal grants for development initiatives.
  • Fosters economic development and neighborhood stabilization.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration
Master’s degree preferred
