Job summary

Conservation Legacy is seeking an Ecological Conservation and Outreach Steward as part of the AmeriCorps Stewards program at Stones River National Battlefield. The role focuses on implementing natural resource management and invasive species control while educating visitors about conservation efforts.

The ECO Steward will work with NRM and Interpretation staff, gain media training, develop interpretive materials, and deliver at least one onsite or outreach program.

Qualifications

  • US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
  • Ages 18–30, or up to 35 with Veteran status.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; plan to obtain diploma prior to using the education award.
  • Provide information for eligibility and a National Service Criminal History Check.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with conservation methods and tools; adaptable to projects.
  • Experience creating science communication materials and digital publishing; photography and video production.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Natural Resource Management staff with ecological conservation.
  • Engage in restoration of limestone cedar glade, native grasslands, and invasive plant management.
  • Assist with forming fire lanes.
  • Perform outreach tasks with Interpretation and Education staff.
  • Create positive visitor experiences through interpretation and social media.
  • Develop science communication and educational outreach tools across media.
