Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced ECMO/ICU nurse for full-time night shift (7pm–7am). The role involves operating ECMO equipment, high-level critical care, and close collaboration with physicians, APNs, and nursing leadership.

The position requires 3 years of critical care nursing and 2 years ECMO experience, with ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications. A BSN is preferred, and a sign-on bonus of $5,000 is offered for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program and valid nursing licensure.
• 3 years critical care nursing experience and 2 years ECMO specialist experience.
• Active ACLS, BLS, NIHSS and related certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to ECMO cannulations outside the OR.
• Operate the ECMO device and manage ECMO care for adults, children, and adolescents.
• Monitor ABGs, ECMO flow, gases, and temperatures; adjust as needed.
• Round on high-risk patients and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
• Provide patient/family education and support during PT/OT and procedures.
• Maintain ECMO equipment and restock emergency carts.
• Assist in policy development, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
