Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking an ECMO Specialist to participate in the full ECMO care pathway from assessment to education, coordinating with ECMO physicians and the healthcare team to tailor treatment plans for patients.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree, completion of an ECMO training program, Texas RN/RT/CCP credentials, BLS and ACLS, and at least two years in a critical care setting. This role supports a Magnet-designated hospital and renowned transplant programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Completion of an ECMO training program or formal ECMO education.
• Licensed RN in Texas or RRT/CCP credentials.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development of treatment plans for ECMO patients, including assessment, planning, implementation and education.
• Communicates with ECMO physician and healthcare team to interpret and adjust ECMO patient care plans.
• Collaborates to ensure complete, safe delivery of ECMO therapies within the clinical setting.

Job Purpose

• The ECMO specialist participates in the development of a treatment plan, involving assessment, planning, implementation, and education. Communicates with the ECMO physician and other members of the healthcare team to interpret, adjust and complete treatment specific to the ECMO patient care plan.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree


• Completion of a designated ECMO training program, and/or formal education in Extra Corporeal Circulation.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

• Registered Nursing License issued by the State of Texas Board of Nursing


• Or RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist License and Current NBRC – National Board of Respiratory Care


• Or CCP – Certified Perfusion License

And

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association


• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience
