Echocardiography Technologist | Jefferson Hospital

Job Overview

Performs echocardiographic procedures including M-Mode, 2D real-time, color flow, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, and stress echocardiograms. Assists with transesophageal procedures, pericardiocentesis, and obtains images using contrast. Performs cardiac exercise testing and assists with nuclear cardiology. Provides preliminary analysis of echocardiograph results, performs calculations and measurements, and ensures departmental standards are met per ICAEL guidelines.

Responsibilities

1. Positions patients and selects parameters to independently perform ultrasound imaging according to ICAEL protocol. Assists cardiologists with TEE and stress imaging studies. (65%)
2. Maintains safety and infection control standards, performs quality control, and cleans equipment including TEE probes per protocol. Maintains supplies. (15%)
3. Recognizes when contrast imaging is needed and may administer contrast if trained and verified competent. (5%)
4. Operates ultrasound systems, manages data entry, and maintains accurate records. (15%)
5. Performs other duties as assigned. (Remaining percentage)

Qualifications

Minimum

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent, or 6 months to 1 year related experience/training.
• RDMS, S-ARRT, CCI Registered Technologist, or RDCS certification; or eligible to obtain within specified timeframes.
• CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• Act 34, 33, and 73 background clearances.

Preferred

• 1-3 years’ echocardiogram experience.
• RDCS certification through ARDMS.
• Possession of PA driver’s license may be required.
