Job summary

Luminis Health in Lanham, MD is hiring an Echocardiography Technologist II to perform echocardiographic procedures and report findings. The role involves patient instruction, artifact recognition, data entry, and ensuring radiation safety and compliance.

Leadership will determine Echo tech level (1 or 2) at hire, with strong emphasis on quality imaging. Requirements include a minimum of three years in echocardiography, ARDMS or RCS certification, and BLS CPR certification with a 90-day hire

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent with specialized training in Echocardiography.
• Three years’ experience in Echocardiography with at least two years in adult and pediatric echo, TEEs, and stress echoes.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Registered Echo Sonographer (RCVT, RDCS, or RDCF) with ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with CCI.

Responsibilities

• Performs echocardiographic procedures using specialized equipment to measure and report data.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide instructions for accuracy and comfort.
• Recognize artifacts and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
• Maintain compliance with department standards and data entry related to procedures.
• Practice radiation safety and ensure staff compliance.
• Obtain pertinent clinical data related to procedures and analyze results.

Job description

Echocardiography Technologist II

Performs echocardiographic procedures, using specialized equipment, to measure, calculate, and report pertinent patient data facilitating accurate diagnostic outcome. Echo tech 1 or 2 will be determined by the leadership upon hiring.

• Conducts Echocardiograms as requested throughout the Medical Center, including all patient rooms and emergency room.
• Explains procedure to patients, providing instructions and direct care to ensure accuracy and patient comfort.
• Recognizes artifacts, eliminates probable sources and troubleshoots minor equipment problems.
• Consistently meets department standards for RVU's while maintain quality work.
• Processes images acquired from different modalities according to establish policies and procedures.
• Performs data entry as it relates to procedures including charges pick lists, logbook, and schedule related functions to ensure corporate compliance
• Practices radiation safety and ensures that other staff and students are compliant.
• Obtains pertinent clinical data adequately as it relates to procedures performed.
• Analyzes, processes, and reports outcomes in a timely manner.
• Provides care to patients and families in a developmentally, culturally, and ethically appropriate manner.
• High School graduate or equivalent with specialized training in Echocardiography.
• Ability to perform, measure, and preliminary interpret echo studies.
• Three (3) years’ experience in Echocardiography with a minimum of two years’ experience performing adult and pediatric echocardiograms, TEE's, and stress echocardiograms.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification or must obtain within 90-days from date of hire.
• Registered Echo Sonographer (RCVT, RDCS, or RDCF) with the ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with CCI
