Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  3. Prepares and/or administers, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  4. Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality; verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data; performs post-processing if applicable.
  5. Educates and monitors students and other healthcare providers.
  6. Prepares and/or administers ultrasound enhancing agents through vascular access in accordance with ASE guidelines.
  7. Communicates abnormal and unexpected findings to the provider to determine the need for additional testing or urgent care.
  8. Collaborates with licensed practitioners during sonographic interventional procedures.
  9. Ensures equipment parameters meet diagnostic and interventional standards as requested by a licensed practitioner.
  10. Performs diagnostic and interventional sonographic procedures as prescribed or during educational activities.

Qualifications

Certifications required upon hire:

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program
  • Certification by ARRT as a sonographer or ARDMS or CCI certification within 6 months.

Specific certifications include:

  • Adult Echocardiography: ARDMS (AE) or CCI credential.
