General Overview
Actively assesses the competence of other technologists via quality reviews. Takes an active role in educating and developing less experienced technicians. Assures functioning of the department is within ICAEL standards.
- Assists in the educational development of all cardiac and vascular technologists with the goal being registry. Assures ICAEL educational requirements are met. Provides feedback on sonographers’ performance. Acts as a resource and educator to those learning to scan. (65%)
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of cardiac sonography department including schedule coordination and on-call schedule. (15%)
- Recognizes the need for contrast imaging and may administer if trained and verified as competent per laboratory protocol. (5%)
- Operates the laboratory ultrasound systems, information systems and databases and enters all required demographic and other data. (15%)
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Essential Responsibilities
- Assists in the educational development of all cardiac and vascular technologists with the goal being registry. Assures ICAEL educational requirements are met. Provides feedback on sonographers’ performance. Acts as a resource and educator to those learning to scan. (65%)

Qualifications
Minimum
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDCS), or ARRT or CCI Registered Technologist, or ARDMS certified or eligible. Must obtain certification within one year of employment.
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Preferred
- 3 to 5 years’ experience performing echocardiograms.
- RDCS certification through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- May require PA driver's license.
