Job summary

Riverside Health System is looking for a non-registered Echo Technologist to perform cardiac sonography examinations under the supervision of a credentialed sonographer in a hospital or office setting.

You will learn to assess patient data, assist in interpretation, and provide preliminary impressions as appropriate while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• CPR/BLS Certification required on hire
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with an Adult Echocardiography specialty (RDCS-AE) within 1 year required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or equivalent within 2 years if cross training
• RDCS certification in Pediatric Echocardiography within 1 year preferred

• Performs cardiac sonography examinations.
• Produces quality images following protocols.
• Maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
• Educates patients/families regarding the procedure.
• Positions the patient and completes the procedure.
• Adheres to safety and quality standards; follows departmental policies.

Williamsburg, Virginia Hiring Range $34.40 - $47.30/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

The non-registered Echo Technologist performs cardiac sonography examinations in an office or hospital setting under the supervision of a credentialed sonographer. Learning to demonstrate the skills and knowledge to assess technical data reflective of patient status relative to age and specific needs, and to learn to assist in the interpretation of same, providing preliminary impressions as appropriate. Delivers quality, cost effective patient care in a professional manner, and works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.

• Performs cardiac sonography examinations.
• Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
• Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
• Educates patients/families regarding the procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
• Positions the patient and completes the procedure.
• Demonstrates commitment to safety and quality and prevents or reduces harms through knowledge and application of departmental policies, procedures, and resource documents.
• Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Follows RHS policies and procedures.
• Reports variances.
• Provides effective and efficient assessment, actions, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Education Program Graduate, Accredited Sonography Program (Preferred) or Associates Degree, Accredited Sonography Program (Preferred) or Bachelors Degree, Accredited Sonography Program (Preferred)
• Experience 1 year Imaging experience (Preferred)
• Licenses and Certifications CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with an Adult Echocardiography specialty (RDCS-AE) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 1 Year(Required) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Within 2 years of hire if cross training as a sonographer, or 1 year from graduating from an accredited program within 1 Year(Required) and Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification in Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 1 Year(Preferred)
