Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician's orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment. Objectively identifies the presence or absence of disease, utilizing a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Assists physicians with invasive echocardiography procedures, including but not limited to Transesophageal echocardiography, trans-catheter echo-guided procedures (location-specific), pericardiocentesis, echo-guided myocardial biopsies (location-specific), contrast-enhanced exams, exercise, and pharmacological stress echocardiography. Has the ability to modify procedures to meet special circumstances and provide clinically useful information in a cost-effective manner.
