Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RDCS/RCS/RVS certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Initiate cardiovascular ultrasound testing in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Evaluate procedure appropriateness and suggest alternative modalities for patient safety.
• Verify and implement physician orders per policy and procedure.
• Communicate pertinent information to the next shift for continuity of care.
• Maintain complete, accurate documentation including abnormal results.
• Ensure accurate documentation for charges of services performed.
• Respond to priorities as outlined in policy and procedure.
• Assess, resuscitate and stabilize patients per current standards.
• Know limits and contact supervisor when needed.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain cardiovascular ultrasound equipment.
• Perform high-level disinfection of scopes and probes.
• Serve as a resource for physicians, other departments, staff, patients and families.
• Demonstrate proficiency in modalities performed and educate others.
• Instruct and supervise CFRH students in clinical settings.
• Recognize life-threatening abnormalities and notify RN/physician immediately.
