Job summary

The Echo Technologist at Community Health Systems in Valparaiso, IN performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound studies, ensuring patient safety and high-quality images for physician evaluation. This role requires precise imaging (2-D, M-mode, Doppler) and strict adherence to EMR documentation and safety protocols.

Candidates should have 1–3 years of echocardiography experience, RDMS certification, and BCLS; RDCS or RCS preferred.

Qualifications

• RDMS certification required or graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
• BCLS certification within first 7 days of employment.
• RDCS or RCS certification preferred.
• 1–3 years of echocardiography experience.
• Knowledge of 2-D, M-mode and Doppler imaging.

Responsibilities

• Perform echocardiographic studies with 2-D imaging, M-mode, and Doppler.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Acquire Stress Echo and Dobutamine images; post-exercise images within 60 seconds.
• Assist with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs).
• Document preliminary reports and patient data in EMR; maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain equipment, supplies and work areas; ensure readiness for patient care.
• Verify patient identity, orders and consents prior to procedures.
