Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an Echo Technologist to perform a full range of cardiac diagnostic testing in the echocardiography laboratory. You will assist physicians and sonographers, ensure high-quality studies, and support patient care and workflow in a dynamic lab.

The role includes a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for moves over 50 miles. RCIS and BLS requirements apply, with a focus on quality control and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree, Sonography, or Certificate of Completion in a related field.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or equivalent certification is listed as preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and complex echocardiographic imaging following departmental guidelines.
  • Ensures imaging quality by reviewing positioning and technical factors.
  • Documents data accurately and completely; cross-trains to other CV Services divisions.

Overview

The Echo Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care and work flows in the echocardiography laboratory. Perform a full range of cardiac diagnostic testing. Assist performing physicians and sonographers in providing high quality echocardiographic exams.

This position qualifies for a sign-on bonus and relocation if moving 50+ miles!!!!!

Point of Care Testing
  • Yes
  • Tests Performed: Performs only those CLIA tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
  • Lab Procedures: Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
  • Quality Control: Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Corrective Action Policies: Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Corrective Action Documentation: Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
  • Problem Identification: Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the technical consultant, clinical consultant or director

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Performs routine and complex echocardiographic sonography imaging procedures following departmental guidelines.
  • Demonstrates acceptable imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors and alignment. Reviews patient data for accuracy, quality and completeness.
  • Documents accurately and completely.
  • Cross-trains to other divisions of CV Services.
Department Specific Job Function
  • Administers contrast when needed and not contraindicated.
  • Completes documentation of studies performed and charges in Epic as well as complete preliminary info in Xcelera system for Physician reading.
  • Is included in a rotation of call thru the week and on weekends with other Team members.
  • Is Team minded and provides compassionate care and quality studies to our community of patients.
  • Performs all forms of Echo testing (Exercise Stress; Dobutamine stress; Echoes; Pediatric echoes; Tranesophageal echoes) in a timely fashion.
  • Seeks to advance their knowledge in all aspects of Echo with an open mind to constructive learning and teaching.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $36.78per hour - $63.26per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
