Position Overview

Harbor Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasonographer with specialized training in echocardiography (ECHO) to join our innovative healthcare team in Austin. This role is integral to our mission of delivering comprehensive, member‑centered imaging services within our pay‑vendor model. The ideal candidate will perform high‑quality cardiac ultrasound examinations and standard ultrasound while contributing to our collaborative approach to transforming healthcare delivery. You’ll work directly with our clinical teams to ensure our members receive timely, accurate diagnostic imaging that supports their comprehensive care journey.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) and stress echocardiograms following established protocols and physician orders.
  • Acquire high‑quality diagnostic images of cardiac structures, including 2D, M‑mode, Doppler, and color flow imaging.
  • Conduct preliminary measurements and calculations, preparing comprehensive preliminary reports for interpretation.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, referring providers, and radiologists to ensure appropriate study protocols and member care coordination.
  • Maintain equipment functionality through proper operation, routine maintenance checks, and coordination with biomedical services.
  • Ensure member comfort and safety throughout procedures, providing clear explanations and addressing concerns with empathy.
  • Document all procedures accurately in the electronic health record system.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support the development of imaging protocols that align with Harbor Health’s integrated care model.
  • Assist with member scheduling optimization to ensure timely access to ultrasound imaging services.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary care team meetings when imaging insights are needed.
Desired Professional Skills & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program.
  • Current RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) certification through ARDMS or RCS through CCI; AB or MSK administered by ARDMS or APCA.
  • Active BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum 2‑3 years of experience performing adult echocardiography in clinical settings.
  • Proficiency in performing standard TTE protocols, stress echo, and experience with contrast studies preferred.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Excellent hand‑eye coordination and ability to obtain diagnostic quality images in challenging cases.
  • Experience with multiple ultrasound platforms and PACS systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with members experiencing cardiac concerns.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with advances in cardiac imaging technology.
  • Experience in value‑based care settings or integrated health systems is a plus.
