Job summary

Responsibilities

• Performs electrocardiograms in a timely manner.

• Communicates any abnormal findings within thirty minutes of test completion.
• Cleans, stocks, and maintains EKG machines.
• Reports defective equipment or hazardous situations involving patient or staff safety.
• Maintains infection control for equipment used in isolation.

Job description

1. Performs electrocardiograms in a timely manner. Introduces self to patient and explains procedure to patient. Checks two patient identifications and ensures patient privacy. Eliminates all avoidable artifacts and maintains stable baseline in all twelve leads. Any abnormal findings inconsistent with previous findings must be communicated within thirty minutes of test completion.
2. Cleans, stocks, and maintains EKG machines. Recognizes and reports any defective equipment. Reports any hazardous situations involving the safety and/or wellbeing of patients or staff members. Cleans and maintains EKG equipment utilized in isolation according to hospital infection control policy and procedure.
3. Maintains a positive attitude, enhancing environment of teamwork and working with co-workers as a member of a unit. Accepts suggestions in a positive manner. Helpful to others in the department by getting work done. Motivated and enthusiastic regarding daily duties. Productive and organized at getting work done. Voluntarily seeks other duties when own duties are completed.
4. Responds to change in department needs. Adapts and learns new procedures and duties. Recognizes own personal strengths and weaknesses and works to strengthen weaknesses. Maintains a neat and clean appearance.
