Job summary

Sourcewell is seeking an Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) instructor to provide support and instruction to families with children birth to five. You will plan and facilitate classes, create culturally responsive learning opportunities, and strengthen family growth and development through a balanced mix of education and support.

The role requires a BA/BS in Parent Education or related field and Minnesota teaching license, with evenings 3:30-7:30 and Friday mornings 8:30-11:00.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Parent Education or Family Education/Early Childhood.
• Minnesota Teaching license or ability to attain one.
• Ability to plan and facilitate parent education groups.

Responsibilities

• Build authentic relationships with families, ensuring a strong connection between home, school, and the community
• Lead and facilitate parent education groups and activities
• Plan and implement family-focused integrated curriculum using the Parent Education Frameworks Early Childhood Indicators of Progress
• Model, provide, and offer resources and support to promote the development of parenting knowledge and skills
• Collaborate with the Early Learning Program team to design creative and supportive learning environments
• Provide outreach and promote ECFE programming
• Utilize a variety of outreach strategies to build community partnerships and connections

Job description

Provide support and instruction to parents, guardians, and families with children ages birth to five years of age through the Early Childhood Family Education setting. Create culturally responsive learning opportunities that strengthen families and support healthy growth and development. Plan and facilitate classes focused on child development and parenting with a balance of education and support.

Hours: Monday evenings from 3:30-7:30 pm and Friday mornings from 8:30am-11:00am.

Hourly rate: Based on the district's master contract and ranges from $38-52/hour.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Build authentic relationships with families, ensuring a strong connection between home, school, and the community


• Lead and facilitate parent education groups and activities


• Plan and implement family-focused integrated curriculum using the Parent Education Frameworks Early Childhood Indicators of Progress


• Model, provide, and offer resources and support to promote the development of parenting knowledge and skills


• Collaborate with the Early Learning Program team to design creative and supportive learning environments

Licensure: BA or BS Degree and current Minnesota Teaching license (or the ability to attain one) in Parent Education or Family Education/Early Childhood, Early Childhood Family Educator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies to meet a wide range of learning styles


• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with parents, staff, and community members of diverse backgrounds


• Knowledge of child development theories and developmental stages


• Knowledge of current trends, theories, and technologies pertaining to learning and instruction


• Physically able to be active with small children (lifting, kneeling, bending, etc.)
