Delano Public Schools’ Delano Community Education seeks an ECFE Classroom Assistant to support lead teachers, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment and assisting with daily care and activities for young children.

You will collaborate with families, prepare materials, supervise small groups, and help with setup and cleanup while following routines and safety guidelines. This part-time role offers meaningful community impact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is usually required.
• Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with implementing lesson plans, preparing materials, and supervising small group activities and playtime.
• Help prepare the classroom and cleanup when class concludes.
• Ensure child safety at all times.
• Interacts with, plays with and talks with children or youth on a continual basis.
• Participates with children in group activities or circle time.
• Handle basic hygiene needs, including handwashing, and serving meals/snacks.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain a positive, welcoming environment for children and parents.
• Provide childcare support in sibling care as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

ECFE Classroom Assistant: Delano Community Education

Under the general direction of the ECFE teacher, the Classroom Assistant supports lead teachers by providing a safe, nurturing environment and assisting with daily care, educational activities, and supervision of young children. This person assists in supporting classroom daily activities; interacting with children and families; assisting in preparing for and cleaning up daily activities as directed; and providing support to the lead teacher in other ways as determined as needed.

Schedule

Varying days based on program/class between MondayFriday during the school year, with the potential for classes in the summer as well

Hours

Approximately 2-4 hours, 1-2 days a week

Starting Wage

$20.67 (Grade4-5 per CE handbook)
