Job summary

Northeast Washington Educational Service District 101 in Mead School District invites applications for an ECEAP classroom aide. You will assist the lead teacher in delivering quality early childhood development services to preschool children and their families, and support parental involvement in educational planning.

The position is seven hours per day, Monday through Thursday, with emphasis on safety, nutrition, and collaborative teamwork within the district.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 12 college quarter credits in Early Childhood or CDA credential preferred.
• Must complete mandatory NEWESD 101 training.
• Maintain pediatric CPR/FIRST AID certificate and Washington Food Worker Card; valid driver's license and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Attends meetings and training for information sharing.
• Maintains classroom materials and supplies to ensure availability and safety.
• Monitors students to provide a safe, positive learning environment.
• Sets up and serves meals and snacks to meet nutritional needs.

Job description

The job of ECEAP classroom aide is done for the purpose of assisting the lead teacher in providing quality, comprehensive child development services to preschool children and their families and encouraging parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities.

This position reports to the director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Birth-Grade 12 and the lead ECEAP teacher.

This position is seven hours per day, Monday - Thursday following the typical school calendar. This position is housed in Mead School District.

• Attends meetings and training as required and/or recommended for the purpose of gathering and sharing information.
• Maintains classroom materials and supplies (e.g. instructional materials, kitchen supplies) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
• Monitors students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Provides set-up and service of meals and snacks for the purpose of meeting nutritional needs of students.
• Performs related duties as assigned. Related duties may not specifically be listed but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

• applying pertinent policies, regulations, and laws,
• implementing activities, preparing and maintaining accurate records, and
• operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios and understand written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

Responsibility

Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized procedures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the agency’s services.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 35% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.

The equivalent of 12 college quarter credits in Early Childhood or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Early

Childhood Professional Recognition preferred

Continuing Education/Training

Must complete mandatory training provided by NEWESD 101.

Certificates & Licenses

• Maintain a current pediatric CPR/first aid certificate (at employee's expense)
• Maintain a current Washington State Department of Health Food Worker Card (at employee's expense)
• Valid driver's license and required auto insurance
• Reliable personal transportation

Clearances

• Provide proof of Mantoux Tuberculosis (TB) testing, treatment or immunity pursuant to WAC 110-300-0105(3).
• Provide proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization or proof of immunity in accordance RCW 43.216.690.
• Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) portable background check clearance (no cost).
• WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance ( if needed at employee's expense).
