Job summary

Montessori Kids Universe of Bannockburn is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support Lead Teachers in delivering authentic Montessori education. You will assist with daily classroom activities, promote independence, and help children develop emotional, social, cognitive, and physical skills.

The role involves supervising in the absence of the Lead Teacher, helping with meals and cleanup, maintaining a safe and organized environment, and collaborating with staff and families to foster a positive

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., kneel, sit on the floor & move classroom furniture or equipment as needed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents.
• Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing daily classroom activities.
• Treat each child with dignity and respect, recognizing their unique needs and backgrounds.
• Help children develop problem-solving skills, independence, and self-confidence.
• Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment.
• Support children in activities that promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.
• Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
• Assist with meal preparation, snack distribution, and clean-up.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Work closely with the Lead Teacher and administrative staff to maintain a high-quality learning environment.
• Maintain open communication with parents, sharing children's daily milestones.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children and their families.
