Job summary

Avery High School seeks a dedicated Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher Assistant to support students with disabilities in instructional and functional settings. The role collaborates with teachers, staff, and families to promote independence and safety in the classroom.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, patient, and student-centered, assisting with academic tasks, personal care, and behavioral support in a least restricted environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher, or 48 college credit hours.
• WorkKeys Skills Assessment + 96 hours of approved PD coursework.
• Experience with children or students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually and in small groups with academic tasks and instruction.
• Support students in developing independence, communication, social skills, and daily living tasks.
• Monitor and support student behavior per the teacher's guidance; assist with crisis prevention as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials, collect data, and maintain required documentation.
• Support implementation of IEPs, accommodations, and modifications.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families.

Education
