Job Description

NATURE OF WORK

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the teacher maximizes the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills, and daily living activities by implementing district‑approved curriculum, documenting progress, addressing specific needs, and providing a safe learning environment.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Hold state certification in General Curriculum (license code 88091 or 88001) and be designated as "highly qualified."

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Conduct assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations to identify learning issues and recommend corrective actions.
  2. Develop Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for students.
  3. Assist students and staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans.
  4. Coordinate with administrators and teachers to assess student abilities and needs, including special needs, and to acquaint stakeholders with social work services.
  5. Continuously acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, and meetings.
  6. Maintain accurate record‑keeping systems and provide student information to colleges and employers as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  7. Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with parents.
  8. Have knowledge of Response to Instruction.
MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES

Physical Requirements: able to operate various equipment, motor vehicle, lift up to 10 pounds.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Knowledge of Special Education principles and effective teaching methods.

  4. Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
  5. Proficiency with computer network systems and software.
  6. Organizational and coordination skills.
  7. Effective communication with students and parents.
  8. Self‑evaluation and professional growth.
  9. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other contractors.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full‑time for ten (10) months.

Salary based on state and local salary schedules.
