Job summary

The Canterbury School in Fort Wayne, IN seeks an experienced EC-8th Grade School Counselor to support students with short-term counseling, prevention programs, and collaboration with families and faculty.

The counselor will join a multidisciplinary Student Support Team, provide crisis response, coordinate with outside providers when needed, and keep confidential records in line with Indiana law and school policy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling or closely related field.
• Minimum of five years of professional counseling experience in a school setting.
• Proven ability to collaborate with faculty, families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term individual and small-group counseling for students.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate social-emotional learning and prevention programming.
• Consult with teachers, administrators, and families on student development and mental health.
• Coordinate with Learning Specialists, Nurses, Dean of Students, and High School Counselor to support transitions.
• Maintain confidential documentation and fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities.
• Participate in Safety and Security Committee and Crisis Response Team.
