Job summary

Easton Family YMCA is seeking a part-time group fitness instructor to lead classes at our Easton, MD location. You will promote wellness and engaging activities in a safe, positive environment according to YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include leading classes, assisting members with goals, building relationships, and responding to emergencies. Certifications in CPR/First Aid/AED and group fitness are required or pursued within set timelines.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required.
• National certification in group fitness instruction (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations.
• Certification in areas of expertise.
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 90 days of hire.

• Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

POSITION SUMMARY

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
• Certification in areas of expertise.
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 90 days of hire.
• At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to conduct classes and activities.
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
