Job description

Status: Full Time | Reports to: Chief Conservation Officer

Location: Remote Midwest or eastern United States or hybrid in Washington, DC

Salary: $145,000-$155,000 depending on experience

Founded in 2002, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) is a national 501(c)(3) conservation organization that works with 64 partner groups, its Corporate Council, and its 130,000 members and supporters to guarantee all Americans quality places to hunt and fish. We unite and amplify our partners’ voices by strengthening policy and funding around conservation, habitat, and access.

The Eastern Vice President of Conservation serves as the senior leader for TRCP's conservation programs and campaigns east of the 100th Meridian. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a long-term strategy to expand TRCP's conservation impact across the eastern and midwestern United States, with a strong emphasis on fisheries, water, and private lands conservation.

The Eastern Vice President will oversee key conservation programs and staff, build and strengthen coalitions of hunting, fishing, conservation, and business interests, and advance strategic policy initiatives that benefit fish, wildlife, and America’s hunting and angling traditions. Working closely with TRCP's conservation, government relations, communications, and development teams, this individual will identify emerging opportunities, cultivate influential partnerships, and secure resources to support long‑term organizational growth and conservation success across the region.

The TRCP offers a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k), cell phone, home internet and gym stipends, and meaningful paid time off.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a long-term conservation growth strategy for TRCP's work across the eastern and midwestern U.S.

  • Supervise and support relevant conservation program leaders and staff, including directors within the Fisheries and Private Lands policy centers.

  • Provide strategic leadership across TRCP's eastern and midwestern conservation portfolio, directly advancing select high‑priority initiatives while empowering program leaders and staff to lead campaigns within their areas of expertise.

  • Help ensure conservation campaigns across TRCP's policy centers are strategically aligned, adequately resourced, and positioned for success alongside our partners, while maintaining strong coordination with the Chief Conservation Officer, Vice President of Western Conservation, and government affairs staff to advance a unified conservation agenda.

  • Build and maintain a cohesive, high‑performing regional conservation team aligned around shared priorities and measurable outcomes.

  • Identify priority geographies, policy opportunities, and strategic investments that can expand TRCP's conservation impact and organizational presence.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with hunting and angling organizations, conservation groups, business leaders, policymakers, agency officials, and other influential stakeholders.

  • Represent TRCP in meetings with state and federal decision‑makers, partners, foundations, and other key external audiences.

  • Coordinate closely with TRCP's Conservation, Government Relations, Communications, and Development teams to maximize policy outcomes, public engagement, and fundraising effectiveness.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with private philanthropic foundations and individual donors to secure and grow financial support for regional conservation initiatives.

  • Support the development of grant proposals, reports, budgets, and strategic investments related to eastern conservation priorities.

  • Advance coalition‑driven policy recommendations and conservation solutions that benefit fish, wildlife, habitat, and public access.

  • Track and communicate progress toward conservation objectives and organizational priorities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
