Job summary

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services seeks a Business Unit Manager for the East Business Unit. You will lead four wastewater plants, oversee 25–35 staff, and drive short- and long-term plans aligned with regulatory compliance and safety.

You will coordinate hiring, certifications, budgeting, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and performance across the unit, while guiding a culture of safety and accountability in a public-sector environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, environmental studies, or related field with 8+ years in wastewater or related field
• Experience leading, supervising, and managing projects and staff
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and safety requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the East Business Unit and oversee four wastewater plants
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and daily work direction for 25–35 personnel
• Develop and monitor short- and long-term business unit objectives
• Coordinate hiring, certification, budgets, and strategic planning
• Ensure compliance with air and water quality permits and safety regulations
