Earthwork & Grading Foreman (Independence Excavating)

Independence Excavating is seeking an Earthwork & Grading Foreman to join our expanding team. This role involves overseeing and executing assigned projects, directing employees' daily tasks, and managing all related paperwork such as employee and equipment schedules, production tracking, dust logs, and safety logs. The position requires familiarity with technology like iPads and basic laptops.

A Typical Day

• Collaborating with the superintendent to build earthwork crews and plan site earthwork activities alongside utility or other contractors.
• Implementing plans to meet project schedules and budgets, including setting up cuts and fills, planning haul routes, and coordinating with inspectors to meet specifications.
• Rough and fine grading to meet project specifications.
• Tracking production quantities and comparing them against estimates to ensure profitability.
• Scheduling employees and equipment to maximize utilization.
• Communicating with vendors and subcontractors related to earthwork and grading.
• Maintaining knowledge of plans, specifications, and schedules, and reporting progress or issues.
• Ensuring safety compliance for all personnel on site.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret grading plans and specifications.
• Experience with various equipment and GPS grading technology.
• Knowledge of forecasting, measuring production rates, and drilling/blasting processes.
