Traveling Heavy Civil Superintendent

Independence Excavating is looking to add an ambitious Traveling Heavy Civil Superintendent to our team! As the Superintendent, you will be responsible for the completion of high-profile projects throughout the country. This person will need to be multi-faceted in construction knowledge from earthwork, utilities, and paving.

A typical day looks like:

1. Running the day-to-day operations on the construction site
2. Maintaining a safe work site and certifying that all company safety protocols are followed
3. Leading the overall construction effort in accordance with design, quality, and schedule while representing the company with professionalism
4. Directing and leading the onsite foreman & making onsite decisions
5. Clearly communicating the plan and directive with the foreman & subcontractors
6. Working under a General Superintendent to coordinate resources, project strategy, and a pathway for project success
7. Developing the work schedule with the project manager & maintaining and leading discussion of a two-week look ahead
8. Communicating daily with the Construction Operations Manager about schedules and resources needed
9. Reviewing equipment and personnel with foreman for resources needed
10. Other duties as needed

Do you have what it takes?

1. Willing to travel 100%
2. Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred
3. 5+ years previous related experience, and/or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience
4. Previous construction management software knowledge and experience along with MS Office
5. Have working knowledge of FAA, USACE, NAVFAC, and various state DOT specifications
6. Strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assigned
7. Develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government offices
8. Must effectively manage union workforces
9. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with employees, external vendors, owners, and general contractors
10. Possess a forward-thinking drive to continually improve and have the willingness to learn
11. Willing to attain certain certifications that may be needed on an as needed project basis
