Job summary

Sargent is seeking a Field Engineer to provide technical and administrative support to the Project Executive and Superintendent through project completion in Ashland, VA. You will manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and maintain detailed project documentation while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The role requires knowledge of earthwork, scheduling, cost control, and strong communication to coordinate across teams. Travel to sites and adherence to company core values are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED; a 4-year Engineering or Construction Management degree is preferred.
• Work experience in Heavy Civil Construction and supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• OSHA 30-hour training is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts, plans, specs, QC requirements, geotechnical report, estimate and bid.
• Develop and coordinate job-specific responsibilities with the superintendent.
• Communicate with Project Executive and Superintendent.
• Assist with submittals and RFIs.
• Track change orders, quantities and additional work.
• Oversee SWPPP requirements at the site.
• Assist with daily reports and maintain project files.
• Attend pre-construction and hand-off meetings.
• Support project team and ensure timely closeout.
