Job summary

AllSearch Professional Staffing is seeking an Excavation Estimator for a client in Mokena, IL. You will manage bids from review through submission for commercial earthwork and sitework projects, ranging from $20k to $1M.

The role requires reviewing drawings, performing quantity takeoffs for earthwork, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with field teams. Onsite presence in Mokena is required with growth opportunities in a growing division.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in earthwork, excavation, or sitework construction (estimating or field-based experience).
• Ability to read and interpret civil/site plans independently.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs for earthwork scopes (grading, excavation, or similar).
• Proficiency using construction takeoff or estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, WinEx Grade, Rocktek, or similar tools).
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills related to construction quantities and costing.
• Ability to work onsite in Mokena, IL on a daily basis.
• Ability to meet company driving requirements for site visits, where applicable.
• Ability to comply with workplace safety policies, which may include pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Review civil drawings, specifications, and bid documents for commercial sitework and earthwork projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs including excavation, grading, and material volumes.
• Prepare complete cost estimates, bids, and proposals for assigned projects.
• Identify scope gaps, risk factors, and necessary bid clarifications.
• Attend pre-bid and post-bid meetings as needed.
• Conduct site visits to validate scope and conditions.
• Coordinate project handoff to operations and project management teams upon award.
• Collaborate with field teams and leadership throughout the estimating process.
• Support relationship development with general contractors and project stakeholders.
