Job summary

Thompson Tractor is seeking an Earthmoving Shop Technician to perform minor repairs, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on earthmoving equipment, including engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components in a shop environment.

The role requires safe work practices, the ability to work independently, timely ordering and returning of parts, and effective use of service information systems. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of mechanical repair experience or equivalent technical education.
• Experience with PCs and basic typing skills.
• Med Card and CDL preferred; MVR required.
• OSHA and MSHA training required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety standards and procedures.
• Plan and perform minor repairs using correct tools.
• Perform tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: removal, installation, disassembly, reassembly, minor adjustments.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate proper use of service information systems.
• Order and return parts promptly for assigned jobs.
• Test and adjust components for optimal performance.
• Work independently in the shop as required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license to be eligible for hire.
