Overview
Summary: Prepares construction site for formwork to be erected in order to pour concrete footings and foundations by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Locates points marked by the layout engineer in the area of the footing/foundation.
- Digs footing/foundation to specified depth.
- Places spoils away from the edge of the excavation.
- Drives and operates vehicles such as backhoe, trackhoe, mini excavator, bobcat.
- Inspects and maintains tools and equipment.
- Works as a form carpenter when not needed to operate equipment.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
One to two years related experience and/or training.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to operate a mini excavator/backhoe preferred

Must be willing to travel, pass a drug test, and E-Verify
