The Metropolitan School of Panama (MET) is a leading international school located in Panama City, offering the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum from Early Childhood through Grade 12. To teach Spanish to Early Years students, including both native and non-native speakers, aligned with the IB PYP framework and MEDUCA requirements. The teacher fosters language development, inquiry, intercultural understanding, and appreciation for Panamanian culture in a warm and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Reporting to: Elementary Principal
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in Spanish for both native speakers and SAL (Spanish as an Additional Language) students.
Integrate inquiry-based strategies and early childhood best practices to support language acquisition and comprehension.
Differentiate instruction to meet the linguistic, academic, and social-emotional needs of diverse learners.
Support the development of foundational literacy and communication skills in Spanish.
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and inform instruction.
Maintain updated planning, documentation, and student records according to school and curriculum guidelines.
Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers to support transdisciplinary learning and student development.
Establish a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and respectful behavior.
Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and school activities.
Participate in school meetings, events, professional development, and other activities that contribute to the broader school community.
Required:
Recognized teaching qualification in Early Childhood Education and/or Language Instruction.
Fluency in Spanish with strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience teaching young children, particularly in bilingual or multilingual settings.
Ability to adapt instruction for both native and SAL learners.
Knowledge of early childhood developmental stages and learning needs.
Preferred:
Experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Familiarity with Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) requirements and local educational standards.
Training or experience in second language acquisition methodologies.
