Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker in Salt Lake City to transport freight across dock areas and trailers for loading and unloading. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move goods efficiently.

Responsibilities include verifying freight documentation, securing loads, and recouping damaged freight. You will assist customers and perform hostling duties as needed, while complying with all laws and company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule is a plus.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to several times per day and lift heavy dock plates.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat and push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading/unloading.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazards).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
