Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to move freight within the dock area and load trailers. This role involves forklift operation, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, with emphasis on accurate documentation and safe handling of freight.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18+, and preferably have warehousing or forklift experience. The job may require hostling duties and adherence to safety and regulatory procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience a plus.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to ~100 lbs and open trailer doors requiring ~75 lbs lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight during shift.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
