Job summary

Cibus in San Diego, CA is seeking an Early Platform contractor to support plant cell biology workflows across laboratory, greenhouse, and warehouse settings. This temporary role lasts three to four months and requires reliable, proactive, and collaborative work.

Responsibilities include generating plants from cell/tissue cultures, germination, micropropagation, protoplast isolation, tissue sampling for screening, maintaining records, and training new hires; follow SOPs and implement quality

Qualifications

• Experience with aseptic techniques and cell cultures.
• Understanding of molecular biology techniques including cloning and PCR.
• Familiarity with functional assays in yeast or plant systems.

Responsibilities

• Generate plants from cell/tissue cultures in the cell biology trait production pipeline, including in vitro germination and micropropagation, microspore culture for haploid plants, protoplast isolation and culture, shoot regeneration, tissue sampling for molecular screening and QC, and delivery of plants from lab to product development.
• Maintain lab notebooks and electronic files, implement LIMS, and aid database development.
• Provide training and coaching for new hires.
• Follow SOPs, troubleshoot, and implement robust quality controls to minimize production loss and maintain efficient processes.
