Job summary

Cibus is seeking an Early Platform contractor in San Diego, CA, to work across biotechnology lab settings, greenhouse, and warehouse environments. This temporary role lasts three to four months and requires a highly reliable, proactive and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities include plant generation from cell/tissue cultures, in vitro germination and micropropagation, and supporting QC, data management, and training for new hires, with strict adherence to SOPs and quality controls.

Qualifications

• Experience working with aseptic techniques and cell cultures.
• Familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, and DNA manipulations.
• Experience with yeast and/or plant systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Participate in day-to-day generation of plants from cell/tissue cultures in the trait production pipeline, including in vitro germination and micropropagation, microspore culture for haploid plants, protoplast isolation and culture, shoot regeneration, tissue sampling for molecular screening and QC, and delivery of selected plants to product development.
• Maintain lab notebooks and electronic files up to date, and implement LIMS; assist in database development.
• Provide training and coaching for new hires.
• Follow SOPs, help troubleshooting, and implement robust quality controls to minimize production loss and maintain efficient processes.

Cibus has an immediate opening for an Early Platform contractor. This role will work across a variety of facilities including biotechnology laboratory settings, greenhouse, and warehouse environments. This position calls for a highly reliable, proactive, and collaborative individual. This role is temporary and is expected to last three to four months.

Role Responsibilities

• Participate in the day-to-day responsibilities for the generation of plants from cell/tissue cultures in the cell biology trait production pipeline, including in vitro germination and micropropagation, microspore culture for generation of haploid plants, protoplast isolation and culture, shoot regeneration, tissue sampling for molecular screening and QC, propagation and delivery of selected plants from the lab to product development.
• Maintain lab notebooks and electronic files up to date and implement laboratory information managing systems and participate in the development of databases.
• Provide training and coaching for new hires.
• Follow SOPs, help troubleshooting and implement robust quality controls to ensure minimal production loss and maintain efficient processes.

Salary Range

$21.00 - $25.00/hour
