General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as needed. Additional tasks may be assigned to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in all tasks.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment. Keep exits clear and report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional. Use recognition programs to acknowledge fellow Associates.
  • Assist Customers as needed — be register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, smiles, and greetings throughout the store, and say 'thank you' at checkout.
  • Respond promptly to Customer service calls and issues, calling Store Leadership when necessary.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks to maintain a clean environment, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Ensure the store is neat, clean, and organized through daily recovery and merchandising efforts.
  • Expedite receipt of new merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per guidelines, and maintain familiarity with products to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow all policies regarding stock disposal, cash handling, refunds, and transactions accurately.
  • Work efficiently, maximizing productivity and minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including registers, PDTs, and PCs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • For stockroom shifts: ability to push, pull, and lift over 20 pounds regularly.
