Job summary

Hire Up Staffing is seeking an experienced Cook to join our client's team in San Antonio. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and takes pride in preparing safe, quality meals while working as part of a team.

Schedule 4:30 AM - 1:00 PM 2 weekends ON / 1 weekend OFF. Pay: $18 + DOE The role requires at least one year of cooking experience in a food service operation, with preference for healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchens.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of cooking experience.
• Experience in a restaurant, cafeteria, healthcare, institutional, or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation, storage, and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to follow recipes and written/verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills for food preparation and portioning.
• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in hot and/or cold kitchen environments.
• Must be dependable and able to work the required weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, portion, and serve meals according to established menus, recipes, and food service procedures.
• Prepare meals for regular and special/therapeutic diets and different food textures as required.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
• Follow federal, state, and HACCP food safety guidelines.
• Assist with preparing scheduled snacks and supplements.
• Help distribute meals in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Receive food and supply deliveries when needed.
• Operate and properly clean and sanitize kitchen and food service equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
• Follow all kitchen safety procedures and practices.
• Complete required paperwork, records, and training.
• May assist with serving customers and handling cash in a secure manner.
• Work effectively and professionally with coworkers and patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
