Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a Custodian to join the 4 a.m. shift (Wednesday–Sunday). You will help keep academic, residential, athletic, and administrative facilities clean, safe, and welcoming, directly supporting campus operations and the Notre Dame mission.

Responsibilities include restroom and shower care, general cleaning, floor care, waste removal, and event support. Strong communication, ability to work with minimal supervision, and safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to follow Instructions and procedures.
Safety-aware approach to cleaning tasks.
Basic computer familiarity for logs or checklists.

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize restrooms and shower areas, including fixtures and drains.
Vacuum carpets, dust furniture, clean floors, and perform seasonal cleaning tasks.
Perform floor maintenance such as scrubbing, buffing, and refinishing.
Collect, separate, and dispose of trash and recyclables; manage waste areas.
Lock/unlock doors, assist with event setup, respond to special cleaning requests.
Clean kitchen appliances and report maintenance needs.
Move furniture, stock supplies, and operate cleaning equipment.
Communicate professionally and coordinate with building managers and staff.
