Job summary

Armed Services YMCA is seeking an on-base Early Learning Teacher at JBER, Alaska to coordinate the curriculum and lead a classroom team of teachers and volunteers. The role focuses on developmentally appropriate activities and strong engagement with parents and guardians.

The candidate will guide staff, ensure safety and compliance with ASYMCA and DOD policies, and foster a collaborative learning environment that supports young children across early learning and school-age programs.

Qualifications

• Early childhood or elementary education certificate or degree.
• Familiar with Alaska Early Childhood Standards.
• First Aid/CPR Certified.
• Experience planning and implementing curriculum.
• Clean criminal background check clearance from ASYMCA, and base access approval.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices.
• Recruit, develop and educate volunteers for infant to preschool activities.
• Lead by example and coach teaching staff.
• Plan age-appropriate activities and communicate with parents.
• Maintain hygiene, safety and classroom standards.
• Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure safety and activities.
