Job summary

Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County is seeking an Early Learning Specialist to conduct bi-weekly home visits with families in the ParentChild+ HBCC program, supporting literacy and language development for children aged 16 months to 3 years. You will help childcare providers implement evidence-based strategies and curriculum with fidelity.

Responsibilities include coordinating visits, data collection (ASQ/ASQ:SE, CBT, PICCOLO), preparing reports, and linking families to community resources.

Qualifications

• Experience in social services in community settings with families preferred.

Job description

Position Summary:

In partnership withParentChild+ National Center, Catholic Charities will implement the evidence-basedParentChild+ Home Based Child Care(HBCC) Program to enrich care environments via fostering provider-child, provider-parentand parent-child relationships. The National Center ofParentChild+ will provide oversight in staff development/training, program implementation, data collection,evaluationand reporting in the delivery of theParentChild+ HBCCmodel.

The Early Learning Specialist conducts bi-weekly home visits to 8 providersto aid children 16 month to3 year-oldto develop their literacy and language skills and support licensed or unlicensed Childcare providers to practice strategies that support language development and child interaction. The Early Learning Specialist is trained by theParentChild+ NationalCenter tofollow the protocols, curriculum, and strategiesestablishedby the program and follows theevidence basedcurriculum with fidelity. The Early Learning Specialist supports the recruitment of participants based on program guidelines andcoordinatesprovidersand home visitor placements. The Early Learning Specialist will engage in network opportunities with internal and external organizations and other programs to promote anddisseminateinformation to Caregivers, communitygroupsand staff. The Early Learning Specialist will coordinate and monitor scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of the program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Provide home visits twice a week to assigned families to deliverParentChild+ HBCC curriculum.
2. Facilitate model play, reading, and verbal interaction behaviors/activities between caregiver and child (16 months to3 year-old).
3. Participate in a Community of Practice that takes place one-hour, bi-weekly, for one year
4. Understand and model age appropriate expectations
5. Coordinates and monitors service delivery and engages in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement of the program.
6. Complete written reports after each home visit and input data into the database
7. Assist in planning, coordinating and execution of workshops, meetings etc. This includes attending, participating in and facilitating sessions, presentations and group discussions/activities.
8. Provide program oversight and support while acting as the first point of contact to community members/program participants.
9. Prepare information to be provided as resources in the community and ensure that this information is culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate and relevant to the family;
10. Help parents and caregivers identify gaps, barriers, and/or issues that interfere with children’s healthy development.
11. Complete required assessments and collect data as assigned including ASQ and ASQ:SE, CBT and PICCOLO.
12. Maintain secure and confidential records and files for each family served. Maintain confidentiality of client information.
13. Participate in trainings related to ParentChild+ curriculum and developmental materials used for working with families.
14. Attend Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County trainings, meetings, and events as required.
15. With the support of the Manager, refer and connect families to community resources and serve as a facilitator in linking participants to social, educational, and health services.
16. Follow directions from the program manager/ or director in completing duties as assigned verbally or in the work plan.
17. Understand agency guidelines and policies and procedures and act in alignment with the CCSCC core values of Service, Compassion and Justice for all
18. Complete all other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Experience in social services in community settings with families preferred and experience working previously with other early learning curriculum is a plus.

At least one year experience working with an early childhood program (i.e.classroom aide, teacher’s assistant, daycare worker)

17. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours, as appropriate, to coordinate and provide services and activities for families during non-traditional hours. Programs run 7 days a week at times.
18. The service is sometimes physical, requiring settingup forevents which may require transporting or lifting cumbersome materials, e.g., easels, flip charts, refreshments, brochures, chairs, tables, etc. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

• Valid California driver's license and proof of auto insurancerequired(access to reliable transportation is essential for this position);
• Ability to lift 25lbs

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Clearance of fingerprint background check
• Must have a valid TB Screening
