South St. Paul Public Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute for Early Learning Preschool Assistant at Kaposia Elementary School. The role involves supporting a developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children, with a 7-hour day and two PD days on August 24 and 26, 2026.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement curriculum as directed by teacher/Coordinator.
  • Maintain a safe, organized classroom with inclusive learning centers.
  • Prepare supplies, snacks, equipment, and environment.
  • Build rapport with parents, children, and staff.
  • Provide positive behavior guidance to children.
  • Greet parents and children and gather information to support learning.
  • Assist with separation issues to support children and families.
  • Support social, interpersonal, motor, and readiness skills development.
  • Observe and record child development and behavior as needed.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines.

Job Summary

Assist in providing a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate learning experience for all children and families.

Job Functions
  • Plan and implement curriculum, as directed by the teacher or Coordinator.
  • Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom - organized, safe and inclusive of learning centers.
  • Prepare/maintain supplies, snacks, equipment/materials and classroom environment, as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain positive rapport, communication and interaction with each parent, child and staff member.
  • Provide positive behavior guidance to all children.
  • Greet each parent and child, request information from parents to best support each child and their learning style.
  • Assist with separation issues to support each child and parent.
  • Assist in implementation of strategies to promote the development of each child's social, interpersonal, motor and readiness skills.

  • Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students and staff.

  • Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, internet navigation and Microsoft Word.
