Job summary

School City of Hammond's Early Learning Center seeks a dedicated Paraprofessional to support teachers in delivering high quality early childhood instruction, both in person and virtually.

You will assist with read‑alouds, group activities, daily routines, and safe supervision, while fostering a positive classroom climate and family engagement. Qualifications include 60 college credits or an associate degree or Indiana Praxis, with Spanish language skills preferred.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits or an associate degree, or pass the Indiana Praxis exam.
• Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish – preferred.
• Ability to support diverse learners in person or remotely.

Responsibilities

• Promote cognitive, physical, social and emotional development by supporting instruction and activities.
• Lead read-alouds and participate in large and small group activities.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Prepare classroom environment, equipment, and materials for daily activities.
• Support classroom daily routines and supervision during meals.
• Collaborate with families and SCH staff to engage students.
