Metropolitan Family Services in Chicago is seeking an Early Learning Mental Health Specialist to join the Midway Early Learning Teams at the Learning and Wellness Center. The role collaborates with staff, leadership, and families to create a safe space that supports children's mental health and well-being through training, coaching, and program development.

Requirements include a Master’s in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field, 2+ years in infant/early childhood mental health,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Child Development with additional education in Mental Health or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in infant and early childhood development and mental health.
• Bilingual skills in English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Identify and create training and professional development opportunities to support learning and mental health.
• Observe classroom environments and provide feedback to teachers and staff.
• Support classroom management and strategies for children with behavioral/mental health needs.
• Assist in Student Support Plan development and implementation.
• Help implement policies to limit suspension and expulsion.
• Identify prevalent child mental health concerns and coordinate interventions.
• Assist parents and staff in accessing mental health resources.
• Ensure health and safety standards across sites.
• Provide active supervision of Head Start/Early Head Start children.
• Advocate for children and families in IEP/IFSP processes.
