Job summary

Milestones Learning Center is hiring a full-time cook/kitchen manager to prepare nutritious meals for children aged 6 weeks to five years. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, often autonomously, and ensure CACFP guidelines and health regulations are followed.

Excellent candidates have ServSafe certifications or are willing to obtain them within six months, and will help rotate stock, manage orders, and maintain a clean, compliant kitchen environment for the kids.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen, ideally in an early learning environment.
• Valid ServSafe Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain.
• Willingness to obtain ServSafe Manager certification within six months.

Responsibilities

Milestones Learning Center is searching for a hardworking, dependable individual to join our team as a full-time cook/kitchen manager. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced kitchen and will be comfortable working alone to prepare and serve meals and snacks to the children in our care. Prior experience is preferred, but not required. Candidates with prior experience (particularly in an early learning center), a valid ServSafe Food Handler certification, or a valid ServSafe Manager certification will be given special consideration. If they don't already have it, the successful candidate will be required to obtain their ServSafe Food Manager certification within the first six months of employment.

Our team members work together to create a safe, healthy, and fun environment for children 6 weeks through five years old. The cook/kitchen manager is a vital member of our team and works closely with classroom and administrative staff to ensure that every child is served a nutrious breakfast, lunch, and snack every day. The cook/kitchen manager is responsible for following all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and adhering to all local and state health department regulations. Other responsibilities include receiving and putting away food orders, rotating stock, taking a weekly food inventory, dishes, and cleaning/sanitizing the kitchen daily.
